Every year Samriddhi – an annual national conference organised by the students of Goa Institute of Management addresses issues related to various spheres of development and strives to find practical and viable solutions for industrial growth.Samriddhi 2014 with their theme ‘The Game Changers’ will focus on showcasing some of the legends who changed the game.
The three day national level event will be held from the 23rd to 25th of August, 2014 at the Goa Institute of Management Campus in Sanquelim.
Being a Game Changer is the need of the hour especially for students from business schools. With its changing political environment and slowly but steadily stabilizing rupee, India is very aptly reflecting the recovering world economy and thus is potentially entering into a very interesting and a dynamic phase with boundless business potential and opportunities. Industry today is on the look-out for individuals who aren’t just employees but also have a keen spirit of learning and innovation and posses that X-Factor, which can make them a viable investment in the long run. Helping the students discover that X-Factor is what Samriddhi 2014 aims to achieve.
During the 3 day - long conference, eminent personalities from across various fields, who contributed immensely in their respective fields and changed the game forever, will be visiting the campus. Some of the speakers include Taufiq Qureshi, a pioneer of Indian fusion music and son of the famous tabla maestro Ustad Allah Rakha, NandiniVaidyanath, a renowned TED speaker, an academician and the author of the book “Entrepedia”, popular Indian playback singer Nikhil D’Souza, Siddhant Vats, TEDx speaker and Indian Entrepreneur and Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer of ‘Androidly’, World’s smallest Android based wristwatch.
Apart from them Parminder Gill, co-founder of EduSports, India’s largest sports education company and Gloria Benny, co-founder and managing director of MAD (Make A Difference), a platform that empowers youth to take responsibility will also speak at the event.
Apart from the informative sessions, there will be various other events and simulation games like Nivesh, The Smart Manager, E-Commerce Simulation, The Problem Solver and workshop on Google AdWords at Samriddhi 2014. The 2014 edition promises to be immensely better in terms of prominent delegates and dignitaries invited to present their views on the theme ‘The Game Changers’.
The Goa Institute of Management was started in 1993 by Fr. Romuald D’Souza supported by a team of professionals and industrialists and has risen to one of the finest management schools in the country. The Speakers at the event: A profile:
Taufiq Qureshi is the son of the legendary tabla maestro, Ustad Allarakha. He happens to be one of the most sought after rhythm-programmers, arranger-composers and percussionists in the world of studio recordings (film background scores, ad-jingles, albums etc). One can witness his creative versatility as a producer- composer and percussionist in his albums like Bombay Fever (2006) and Mystic Soundscapes- Forest (2007). He was featured as a performing artiste on the 2009 Grammy award winning album ‘Global Drum Project’. Taufiq’s album ‘Rhydhun’ amongst others is said to have set new standards for world music in India. He is greatly influenced by his illustrious brother UstadZakir Hussain, yet he chose a completely different path to come out of the shadow of his great father and brother and make his own mark. Taufiq Qureshi, a pioneer of Indian fusion music, is a self-made man and that makes him truly a GAME CHANGER.
Nikhil D'Souza is an Indian playback singer, song writer and guitarist from Mumbai. He won the South Asia Soloist at SUTASI’09. Also in 2011, he was a runner up at Crimea Music Fest in Ukraine which featured participants from all around the world. He performed an original, “Storm Without a Sky” and a cover of the CCR classic “Have You Ever Seen the Rain. A distinctive feature of his original music is the emphasis on strong vocal melodies and lyrics, backed up by skilled and unconventional guitar work and musical arrangements. He made his playback singing debut in RajshreeOjha’s successful venture ‘Aisha’. He was part of “Sleeping Buddha,” an original soul/R& B Band that released an album titled “Empty Screen” with Times Music in 2001. ‘Rolling stones’ magazine favorably reviewed one of his songs in the January 2009 issue, and has featured him in the "Artists to watch" in the December 2009 issue, and a similar article in Verve in January 2010. He was also featured in “Faces of the Future” in India Today.
