Hyderabad based Dr Surabhi Lakshmi Sarada is an accomplished and reputed Kuchipudi exponent, actress, teacher and choreographer for more than two decades. Surabhi is also the staff artiste of Song and Drama Division, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

It was a pleasant surprise for for me to get in touch with such a dynamic personality after a longtime. Dr Surabhi is incidentally the founder-director of Sree Surabhi Academy of Performing Arts which was established in 2006 and over the years has trained several aspirants in the field of Indian classical music and dance. Bharata natyam, Kuchipudi, Carnatic music and folk arts are taught at the institute at Dilsukh Nagar. Surabhi also conducts free dance class for the poor and underprivileged at the Zilla Parishad High School.

Dr Surabhi says "Being a graded artiste of both All India Radio and Doordarshan, it has been a privilege to serve as a staff artiste of Song and Drama Division as I can use my ability as a speaker, actress and dancer. We conduct various programmes to reach out to a larger section of the country through social messages and cultural programmes to uplift the society for a better life and living, particulalry our focus is to reach out to the rural sector wherein children and women are deprived of education and basic needs of life. We conduct programmes as to how the society could empower themselves for a better life and living condition".

Dr Surabhi as a organiser has conducted several programmes to encourage children and young artists, students of Surabhi Academy were featured in the Telugu film "Nennu Leni Na Prema Katha".  Varied music and dance programmes and competitions are conducted online and live shows.

Dr Surabhi has performed for varied prestigious festivals both in India and abroad and has won several awards and accolades for her contribution as a dancer, teacher, choreographer and actress. she  has also won the prestigious state award Telugu Bhasha Samskrutika presented by Telugu Rakshana Samithi. Dr Surabhi Lakshmi Sarada is indeed a devoted classical exponent who will definitely scale greater heights in the near future.
