MTV Beats Love Duet’s new song, Khud Ko Hi Paake, is a poetic representation of self-discovery and the power of love that conquers all. Sung and composed by singer Nikhita Gandhi, the song is a manifestation of loving oneself and accepting love, in all its forms. 

Featuring Nikhita Gandhi herself, along with Ivanka Das, the song showcases a couple and how their fairy-tale romance hits a roadblock when a small moment between them makes the male partner come face to face with his suppressed issues of gender identity. What follows is a series of trials and tribulations between them, only for them to understand the true meaning of love and their undisputed feelings for each other, as they decide to live and raise their child together, come what may. Against the narrative of a bold and an emotional story, Khud Ko Hi Paake paves its way through your heart and redefines the traditional definitions of love.

Expressing her feelings for the song, Nikhita Gandhi says, “Khud Ko Hi Paake is a song I composed keeping in mind the internal struggle of someone who is facing an identity crisis. The beauty and the pain of such a conundrum is that we all have our fair share of this, in different magnitudes. The song is an expression of acceptance of the self and embodies the message that the only truth in life is who you are and letting yourself be honest to that. MTV Beats Love Duet has been a path-breaking initiative in normalizing conversations around love that goes beyond gender stereotypes. It has given a platform to some of the greatest artists from the LGBTQI+ Community to showcase their talent and make their voices heard. I’m proud that I got the chance to make a tiny contribution in this journey through Khud Ko Hi Paake- a soulful story weaved in with passion and genuineness. Khud Ko Hi Paake is penned by Nikhita Gandhi and Shashwat Singh, and will be available on the social media assets of MTV Beats. As part of India’s first gender atypical love album, the first three songs of this album, titled, Jashn-e-bahaar, Teri Meri Baatein and Ishq Karle Tu, also portrayed ungendered love and the societal challenges around it.
