Bangalore and Kerala-based 4-piece alternative rock outfit has officially released their debut EP. The band is formed by notable musicians of the Indian music scene, spearheaded by vocalist Kiran Paul (also Vocalist for Mad Bypass) and drummer Abin Thej (Founder of the Prog band The Harbingers previously the drummer of Thaikkudam Bridge) and joined by Guitarist Hari Krishnan PV (Guitarist for the multi-genre group C Major 7 and The Harbingers) and Keyboardist Ruthin Thej (keyboardist for Thaikkudam Bridge). Much like the band, the initial song compositions for their debut release were conceived amidst the lockdown when the unprecedented pandemic hit the world. While Kiran and Abin had the core arrangements laid out, Hari Krishnan and Ruthin added their own flavors to the band’s music. Beating the barriers of location and the lockdown, their music started taking shape when they began to write and finish songs on numerous video calls for weeks.
After 3 months of struggle, the band finally arrived at 4 full-fledged songs for their virtually-composed rousing debut EP ‘Weird Relay’. The EP has been entirely self-produced with parts recorded by the members in their respective hometowns of Bangalore and Kerala.
Belt out like pure Rock Ballads, the band boasts a heavenly combination of soulful melodies and pleasant instrumentation. Taking inspiration from their personal life experiences and their musical influences from the realms of Rock n Roll and Alternative-Rock, the band is on a journey to make one experience numerous emotions through this release. The EP kicks off with the track You’ve Gone Slow which vocalist Kiran describes as ‘moving on from the past but still catching up to what you can really be’.
In his yearning vocals accompanied by the magic of guitarist Hari Krishnan, Don’t Make Me Wait is an open letter to the person who you’re stuck waiting for, for your whole life. Touching the theme of self-discovery, the wholesome In Search of Me talks about destroying one’s inner demons. A personal take on why hell might be a better place than the world can be heard on the track Well! Hell! The EP also offers a special bonus track - an acoustic version of the opening track.
