On the occasion of Mahashivratri, 11th March 2021, singer-composer - music producer Nuka released her 6 track, Mahamrityunjay Album, through ‘I am Seeking’, a brand that she envisioned in the lockdown last year.
On I am Seeking, Nuka says“Though the pandemic I realised that we as humans are hurting, not just nature’s way of life, but ourselves too. 2020 brought many of us to introspect into the worlds we had created for ourselves, where darkness can creep in easily. All the aggression and anger I feel must be neutralised with compassion and empathy. A true difference to the environment, society and humanity shall therefore be possible.”
With the first release under ‘I am Seeking’, she takes from her own experiences and offers a deep dive into the world of the Mahamrityunjay mantra, deeply researched to create multi-lingual (English and Hindi) audiobooks and explaining the significance of the 108 Jaap, the story of the mantra’s creation, and how it affects us.
Conceptualised and executed by Nuka, the softer, electronically produced textures infused with live violins by Shravan Sridhar, recorded remotely during the lockdown, are a departure from the usual intense versions of this mantra, make this a hybrid of digital and analog sounds. The 6-minute mantra leads into the multi-lingual audiobooks, researched by a mythology student, and sound-designed by Nuka to create an immersive, sonic environment, full of theatrical twists and turns. Taking cues from the research about the power of the 108 repetitions of this mantra, Nuka has also created a full-length 47-minute track for those who wish to dig deeper.
