Year after year, the Mahindra Blues Band Hunt brings Blues bands across the country to the forefront, giving them a platform to showcase their talent. 2018 was no different and saw Kolkata band Arinjoy Trio take the honours.
Consisting of three young lads who share a common hunger for the blues, they perform a wide variety of blues music, from old school to contemporary. At the show, the band enthralled the audience with soothing blues numbers which included Sky is crying by Elmore James, Honey Hush by Albert Collins, and an original by the band Cold Cold Cold. Arinjoy Trio is an initiative which brings together three musicians. The band is led by guitarist Arinjoy Sarkar, Sounak Roy on drums and Aakash Ganguly on bass guitar.
We now hear that the band is all set to bring their debut album the self-titled The Arinjoy Trio on limited edition, hand-numbered vinyl of 200 copies on Free School Street Records.
Says an excited Aveek Chatterjee from Kolkata who is behind the project, “This would be our third release (the first two are under production, Susmit Bose – ‘Train to Calcutta’ in association with The Revolver Club, Mumbai, and Wanka – ‘The Orange Album’, in association with Greek record label, Cult Rock Classics). The LPs will be pressed at a leading pressing plant in Europe and will include a colored insert of liner notes and photos of the band. Each copy of the LP will be personally autographed by the band members and will be sold and distributed by our exclusive Record Store Partner, The Revolver Club, Mumbai (www.therevolverclub.com). The album is expected to be released during Winter 2021. The exact date of release of the LP and details of pre-order will be communicated in due course”.
