Singer Anaida goes Spiritual

You would surely remember her as the ‘Oova Oova’ girl and for songs such as  O Malu Malu, Oonchi Neechi, Kaachi Kali and Diwani diwani, to name a few.

As for her music career, Anaida went on to release her first English single Fever, followed by her second album ‘Nazuk Nazuk’ in 1996 featuring Oova Oova. Her second video Hoo Halla Hoo from the album was the first fully animated 3D video ever scripted by Anaida herself and produced in India. It won a number of awards including "Hope 96" for Best Animation.

She also teamed with Syrian singer/songwriter Shukri for an Arabic album ‘O Malu Malu’, the first original Arabic album by a Hindi pop artist produced in India. In 1997, she worked on a duet with Stefanos Korklis who dedicated a song to her titled Anaida sung in Greek and Hindi. She was also the first female Hindi pop artist to be featured on "Buddha Bar" with her song Good day to die sung in English.

Besides acting in several Bollywood films and making guest appearances in numerous television shows, she was also chosen by Walt Disney to sing Hakuna Matata  (‘Lion King’) in Hindi.

But going back to a few years, the singerwas diagnosed with a life threatening illness. But the award-winning celebrity chef, artist, inspirational speaker, decided to be strong and distract her mind that she could self heal herself. This is when Tattva, a spiritual coloring book with a difference came to life.

Says Anaida, “My journey through music , art and food has been adventurous and fulfilling. I am an avid practitioner of multiple energy work modalities and do a lot of healing for others. Yet, last year found me attracting a disease which almost killed me.  It did scare me beyond my expectations. Specialists warned me that without an immediate operation, I was risking a heart failure. Going against doctors' advice took a lot of faith and surrender on my part. I quit my businesses, gave up homes, gave belongings away, wrote a will and was booked on a flight to go to my family. And that's when pandemic happened. Flight cancelled. Finding myself in Pune at a family friends home. I started drawing and painting as a way to distract the monkey mind and to get my ridiculously high heartbeat at the time to calm down” states Anaida who was one of India's first pop singers of the 90s with more than 10 albums and the ability to sing in 17 languages.

So to cut a long story short, she was healed on her own, more and more drawings happened and from friends' reactions constantly asking for copies to colour, the Parsee/Zoroastrian of Indian-Greek-Iranian heritage singer soon realised that this was to become a colouring book, meant for calming the mind, creating mind space for personal healing and raising one's vibration.

“Sometimes all we need is to calm down and quiet the mind. The rest of the magic happens within each of us” says the singer who at the age of 15, entered the Indian music scene with her hit single Hotline which also happened to be the first Indian single to be released.

So what you have here is Tattva, An aspect of reality. It is a spiritual colouring book with a difference. It is hand drawn by her using sacred geometry and universally recognised designs meant to allow the creative self within each person flow. It is used to reduce stress and raise frequency. And once done, they also fit together like puzzle pieces in numerous ways so one can create one's own story and size with them.

For someone who has enthralled audiences much before the internet took over, Anaida’s music is still popular with kids and adults alike.
