At the recently concluded The Battle of Beatboxers 2.0, the most talented beatboxers faced off against each other at Mumbai’s Y.B. Chavan auditorium on Saturday, 19th February 2022. . The competition was organized by Rawdust and India’s leading creator-led live commerce platform Roposo was the live entertainment partner.
The Battle of Beatboxers was exclusively live streamed to millions of users through Roposo and it was simulcasted on lock screen content platform Glance
The judging panel comprised of stalwarts of the beatboxing community, Gaurav Gambhir aka D-Cypher and Roshan Gamare aka BeatRaw who appeared in the film ‘Gully Boy’ and contributed to the music. They were joined by Dilip Sakhrani, who is the first Indian beatboxer to win an international competition.
Judge D-Cypher shared, “The performances were judged based on musicality, technicality, clarity, flow and originality. Stage presence was an important factor too. The top four participants get to be a part of Roposo’s growing creator community. This is great because Roposo is doing a lot to help its creators.”
The top thirty-two participants, who were selected on the basis of videos they uploaded on Roposo, took part in the competition. After a solo performance by each participant in the first round, the top sixteen participants were selected. The judges had a tough time making the selection as all of them were amazingly talented.
These sixteen participants were paired against each other in a beatbox battle. This was followed by two more battle rounds as participants were gradually eliminated until there were the top four.
To give these top participants a breather before the final round, the judges performed and showcased their insane beatboxing skills.
The final beatboxing battle took place between Anup Gaekwad and Romit Dutta. The two of them were giving it their all in their performance and had everyone’s attention.
After it was done, it was time for the final verdict. The judges announced Anup Gaekwad as the winner of The Battle of Beatboxers 2.0.
There was great jubilation as everyone rushed to congratulate him. Commenting on his victory, Anup Gaekwad said, “It was a truly amazing and surreal feeling to win The Battle of Beatboxers 2.0. Moments like this make all our effort worth it. I am extremely happy to have come in first place and I also look forward to my partnership with Roposo. I am excited for my journey on Roposo and will definitely be putting out a lot of content there.”
The Battle of Beatboxers 2.0 was an intense and gripping competition which left everyone greatly entertained, whether they watched it in person or digitally on Roposo or Glance. This was an important event for the beatboxing community, who all share a strong sense of camaraderie.
