SOI, Keshia B, Rahul Sharma set the tone for NCPA@ThePark.

After the tremendous success of the first edition, Mumbai’s premier arts and cultural institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA)in association with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced its second edition of ‘NCPA@ThePark’ – an initiative that aims to celebrate the return of live performances and performing arts in the city and welcome art enthusiasts back to theatres.

The second edition of NCPA@ThePark was held on 26 - 27 March 2022 at the Bandra Fort Amphitheatre. The event featured an exciting blend of events across music and dance and was open to the public free of cost on a first come first serve basis. Adding to the joy of the evening was the refreshing cold coffee and sandwiches provided to everyone in the audience.

The first event on 26th March featured Members of the Symphony Orchestra of India presenting an evening of light classical music featuring waltzes, marches, polkas and more. After a tiring weekend, you could unwind with the music of beloved composers including Mozart, Johann Strauss, and more, as well as some popular tunes.

This was followed by ‘One Night Only’ - A Diva Special Presented by Keshia B which showcased the music of great divas, like Etta James, Whitney Houston, Ledisi, Erykah Badu and Adele to name a few.

27th March featured ‘Folktronika with Rahul Sharma & Group’ which includes Ashwin Rokade (keyboard), Vinayak Pol (drums) and Aditya Kalyanpur (tabla) along with Amit Gadgil (bass guitar) and Sanjoy Das (electric guitar). Folktronika blends acoustic sounds with the electronic sound, leading to high energy fusion. The group also explores folk melodies from Jammu-Kashmir, Assam and other regions.

This was followed by a ‘Lokadhaaraa Folk Dances of India by Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya’ with Vaidehi Rele and Swapnokalpa Dasgupta. The beautiful performance is woven together with the vibrant folk dances of India - Kajri from Uttar Pradesh, Koli from Maharashtra, Haryanvi Ghoomar from Haryana, Bihu from Assam, Garba from Gujarat.

The amazing events at NCPA@ThePark now move to a new venue. Keep a lookout for the date.
