India’s Ghazal Maestro, Pankaj Udhas known for his soulful voice and enthralling music has compiled yet another mesmerizing album titled – ‘Khamoshi ki Aawaz’. The album, comprising his latest works of art was unveiled on 7^th November, 2014 by Cricketing Legend Sunil Gavaskar at The Phoenix Market City Kurla, Mumbai and was launched exclusively on India’s first and largest on-demand digital entertainment storefront, Hungama.com.

The event witnessed the presence of prolific personalities like renowned singers Anuradha Paudwal & Kavita Paudwal, ghazal duo Bhupinder & Mitali Singh, singers Kavita Seth, Penaz Masani, Lubna and Salim Arif, actors Aakashdeep and Sheeba amongst others. Soumini Sridhara Paul, Business & Product Head, Artist Aloud, Hungama felicitated Pankaj Udhas and Sunil Gavaskar at the event.

At the event Pankaj Udhas performed the soulful lead track of the album titled ‘Saqi Ki Har Nigah’ which features the Ghazal maestro himself. The lead track captivated the audiences with its alluring charm and moving lyrics.

Talking about the exclusive launch over Hungama of his latest album Pankaj Udhas said, “I have dedicated this album to the finest Urdu poetry. This album consists of the most subtle and musically sensitive work I have done so far, therefore it will have a soothing effect on everyone. It has a very contemporary sound which is a rare combination of traditional poetry woven into a unique musical ensemble which would be loved by both the ghazal aficionados and the youth.”

The album consisting of six ghazals of renowned Urdu poets including Mirza Ghalib, Ahmed Faraz and the very sensitive Parveen Shakir - all well known for their ‘Ahsas’ along with one Nazm by Ajay Pandey, which is an outstanding piece of poetry in the same groove.

Pankaj Udhas has recreated this wonderful sentiment of listening to poetry set in some very rare Indian ragas, bringing out the nuances of the phenomenon of the ‘Ahsas’ element, which is something that cannot be translated from Urdu poetry but can only be felt.

He further added, “‘Khamoshi Ki Aawaz’ plays the most touching songs in one's mind and heart. They don't require high decibels but are like a flowing brook with subtle sounds that carry one to a level of a trance.”

‘Khamoshi Ki Aawaz’ is totally different from his previous albums in terms of sound and poetic content but it has the trademark Pankaj Udhas effect which every ghazal fan has loved for over three and a half decades.
