Saransh Batra, a.k.a Saar Punch is a Rapper/R&B artist from Delhi, who recently dropped his debut E.P 'Oopar Neeche' on 15th of July which encapsulates the very highs and very lows that he has seen in his life. The whole project serves as a reminder to keep moving forward despite of this inevitable turbulence in life. “I have tried to tap into very different zones both sonically and lyrically to reflect these extremities”, states Saar Punch.
The first single Kaloli hit half a million streams organically across all platforms while his second single is called Khudbakhud with a music video released last week.
‘Oopar Neeche’ stems from the complexities of life faced by Saar Punch and acts as a translation based on his experience, whether being good or bad. The album is an amalgamation of his experience throughout the ensemble of his life over the past two years.
The album beautifully encapsulates the very highs and the very lows in the same package. Consisting of 7 tunes, the album promises to motivate the listener to keep moving forward.
Starting with funk-laden Kaloli featuring Burrah and Bharg, who together bring the best of both worlds, from the streets of West Delhi to groovy riffs from the East Coast.
Moving onto the second tune, which captures the essence of falling in love, this time around, Bharg also gives a surprise verse. Then comes Vish, which seizes the dark themes of toxic coping mechanisms and hints at a mentally strained Saar Punch who relives his trauma and toxic coping mechanisms, produced by Lambo Drive and ending with Bharg's beautiful melodic sonics.
Next comes Khudbakhud, alongside one of the finest in the country, Rawal, where both quite poetically describe the dexterities of life, produced by Lambo Drive and Aniket Chaturvedi on the Saxophone, absolutely showcase their prowess.
Followed by a Skit, next comes the banger of a tune entitled Hosh Nahi, where Lambo Drive comes into his element and gives a solid backing to an amped-up Saar Punch. Finally, arriving onto the last tune of the album, Kuch Bhi, where Saarpunch and Tarun come together to showcase the feeling of new love and their lives circling back to the good times.
