Kho Gaya marks the debut of Autoplay, a Delhi based duo, who are all set to release 6 singles this year. The song has been released with an animated video which matches its peppy tone and comic imagery.
“Kho Gaya started to formulate in 2020, when we took part in a contest called Flip the Beat, where Ritviz had shared some stems of a piece of music and the participants had to use them in a creative manner and come up with their take on it” Piyush, one half of Autoplay, explains, “We decided to make a song and an animated video to go with it. We won out of 3,000 entries across the country.”
They did the entire video themselves from scratch and included a bit of 3D animation in their 2D video to give it a fresh outlook. They spent the last 2 year tweaking Kho Gaya to have it release-ready.
“It took a while to illustrate and animate the video, since we were quite new at it, but now everything looks and sounds amazing!”, says Anurupa, the other half of the act.
The song is about one going through a heartbreak. Although the video is filled with tiny bits of humour here and there, it showcases the mental state of one going through a tough time. Most people don’t know how to deal with such strong emotions. The song bridges into a world of self reflection and well-being. Stick around till the end of the video, to get a good chuckle!
Excited to create music, Anurupa and Piyush got together in early 2020. Little did they know that this was going to be the worst time to do this. It is difficult for a new act to create a space for themselves in the market and book some shows. But imagine doing that during the lockdown. However, they pushed through and are all set to release the music they created during this period.
Although Autoplay is fairly new to the Independent music scene, individually they have been around music all their lives. Their musical journeys are also quite different.
A versatile guitarist and a graduate from Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, Piyush is literally living and breathing music 24x7. He has played with over thirty bands in the last 10 years. Apart from being a guitarist, he is also an Audio Engineer and Music Producer. He has worked on music and sound design for brands like Dr Lal Path Labs, Dolby, Dettol, MG Motors, and many others. He produces music for Autoplay and creates some unique arrangements for their songs.
Anurupa on the other hand, started learning music when she was four years old. She was always interested in different styles of music and later on in life felt an inclination towards English Pop. After working as an architect for two years and spending two years doing her Masters in Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi, she is currently pursuing her career as a musician. Being a designer, her inspiration comes from observing art around her, enabling her to express herself in a unique way.
The duo is keen on releasing one song every month hereon.
“We can’t wait to open up our heart and soul to the world through our music.”
