Vocalist and Composer Nihira Joshi-Deshpande released her first EP titled ‘Trishna’ in December 2022. Through a series of four songs she narrates the story of Radha and her divine love as well as her human longing for Krishna. Each of the four songs artfully captures the various facets of Radha’s desire, ranging from music to companionship and also encompasses issues of commitment and reconciliation.

The songs have been composed and rendered by Nihira, while collaborating with three poets: Apoorva Kulkarni (Trishna Antarman Ki and Samarpan Ki), Tejas Ranade (Trishna Bandhan ki) and Shashi Sharma (Trishna Bandhan Ki) for the lyrics.

She has also worked with musicians and producers from different backgrounds for the production of the tracks. Trishna Antarman Ki features Carlos Cano (Flautist and arrangements) and Hernán Milla on the piano, Latin Grammy nominees and Western Classical musicians residing in Spain. Saurabh Bhalerao, an Indian pianist and music producer features on Trishna Samarpan Ki, while Trishna Spandan Ki and Trishna Bandhan Ki features Mayukh Sarkar, an ace guitarist and music producer from India. Amey Londhe and Dipesh Sharma Batalvi are the sound engineers who have worked on the album.

Nihira says, “Being an ardent lover of poetry, I wanted the spoken word as a component of the album. Thus, the EP opens with a poem titled ‘Trishna’ written by Tejas Ranade and recited by the actress Girija Oak Godbole. It has been an extremely enriching experience for all of us, as we put our hearts and souls into the creative process. The album is a story woven through notes and words, where each song is a chapter that takes the story ahead”.

‘Trishna’ has been lauded by many musicians as well as listeners and has featured in a variety of blogs, music reviews, the magazine Rolling Stone as well as in the Spanish media. It is available on all the leading audio streaming platforms as well as on Nihira’s YouTube channel. The songs have no videos as they were designed to be an audio experience.

“The album opens with a poem written by Tejas Ranade and recited by Girija Oak Godbole. All tracks have been recorded by Amey Londhe @ Audio Garage Studio. He has mixed three songs while Dipesh sharma Batalvi has mixed one song” says Nihira.
