The 5th Edition of GiMA begins with ‘Call for Entries’ going live.

Dedicated to celebrating musical excellence, The Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) has announced the 5th edition of its prestigious awards, inviting entries from music labels, producers, and independent artistes.The “Call for Entries” went LIVE on 26th November.

GiMA provides a cohesive platform to celebrate and recognize the immense contribution of those who push the boundaries in Indian Music. The much awaited GiMA Awards 2015 is all set to play out early next year, in Mumbai.

Over the years, this vision has come to life with many a musical genius awarded, extraordinary tributes and performances and the tremendous support of the industry. As we bring in the 5th edition of the GiMA Awards we look forward to celebrating another exciting year in Indian music.

With a total of 25 Awards, GiMA honors talent across various genres of Non Film Music and Film Music. Spanning Indian music’s rich and diverse landscape, the awards recognize talent across unique music segments like Classical, Devotional, Pop, Rock, Indie and Folk Music etc. The entire voting process is based on peer-to-peer recognition making it a highly credible and stringent process which is closely monitored by KPMG, the official process auditors for the awards. Nominees are selected by the GiMA Jury panel which comprises experts across various genres of the music industry, who ensure that the GiMA nominees are the ‘best of the best’ and truly deserving. The Academy which comprises over 300 members from the music and film industry then votes for the final winners in a secret ballot process. The Advisory Board plays an important part in streamlining the Awards process; and all major decisions are taken with the consensus of the Board.

The Advisory Board and Jury consist of some of the most renowned and noted names in the Indian music industry including Javed Akhtar, Dr L Subramanium, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Prasoon Joshi, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa, Vishal Bhardwaj, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra among others.

The Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) Awards, an initiative by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd was started in 2010 to acknowledge and give the Music industry a unified platform to celebrate their talent, promote and recognize Indian music’s transcending genres in the country. GiMA is a unique initiative in Indian music with a vision to honour artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Indian music. Music Labels, Film Producers and Independent artistes are invited to enter music released between 1st December, 2013 to 30th November, 2014.
