Navi Mumbai based N.N Sivaprasad is a professional Carnatic music vocalist, He has rendered music as a soloist and accompanist for music and dance programmes in and around Mumbai, and globally, for more than three decades.
According to Holy texts or " Shastras", it is believed that if an artist perseus and practices Indian classical music or dance with utmost sincerity and devotion, He is a blessed person. Sivaprasad is undoubtedly a devoted performer blessed, with a commendable voice, that travels through various octaves of music with effortless ease and comfort. He sings with a lot of involvement and intensity, enthralling his audience everywhere.
Siva belongs to family of musicians and Kathakali artists, Hailing from Shree Krishnapuram, Kerala he completed a diploma course in Carnatic vocal music from The Lalitha Kalalaya, which is recognized by Kerala Sangeeta Natak Academy, in 1983 with distinction, He has also been the disciple of renowned mentor K. M Krishnan from the Guru Shishya Parampara. Siva learnt Sopanam Sangeetam from his father V.N Narayanan Namboodiri, a renowned Sopanam singer. Siva has performed for All India Radio and Doordarshan, both on regional and National channels. Besides recordings Siva has performed for innumerable stage performances and is a versatile singer who is adept in singing different languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujrati, etc.
He has sung for different dance styles like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Kathakali, Odissi, etc. Some of the great mentors he has performed for are Kelucharan Mohapatra, Kadhirvelu, Ramaswami Bhagvathar, Chitra Vishwswaran , Vempati Chinna Satyam, Kottakal Nandkumar, Sandhya Purecha, Rajee Narayan, Deepak Mazumdar, Jaya Ramarao, Geeta Radhakrishna, etc.
Siva says "Rendering a Carnatic music Kutcheri is a different experience, as you have to concentrate on the melody, "Sahitya" and the music composition with complete involvement, but to sing for a dance program is another experience you have to be intune with the dancer and also sing according to the emotion depicted by the dancer, hence, you have to concentrate on the dancer and maintain a fine harmony with music and dance”.
Siva has won several honours and awards on the national and international level and is among the leading singers today in Mumbai. Siva has established and is the founder director of Shrutilaya Fine Arts Academy in order to promote and propagate Indian Classical music and dance by conducting workshops and festivals to showcase young talent and established artists. Siva aptly states that life is music and music is life. I firmly believe that Siva is the "Prasadam" of Lord Shiva.
