NCPA and Shankar Mahadevan Academy present instructor led music courses

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA Mumbai) and Shankar Mahadevan Academy collaborate and present instructor led music courses. Shankar Mahadevan Academy’s mission of spreading the “Joy of Music” worldwide and NCPA’s commitment to preserving and promoting the arts have brought together the two institutions for the first time to encourage Indian music in the city of Mumbai.

The Academy has been instrumental in pioneering online music education globally via the CloodonTM learning platform. Along with NCPA, the Academy would bring its rich experience in teaching Indian classical and light music to NCPA patrons and music lovers via its online-offline blended model. Students would now be able to learn a variety of Indian music with the help of a structured curricula and the OMTM Book (online music book) with a teacher in their local community - a perfect blend of tradition and modernity!

K N Suntook, Chairman – NCPA says, “As a national centre, we are deeply committed to the propagation of Indian music, and have undertaken several educational initiatives for the beginners as well as advance students of music. We are pleased to partner with the Shankar Mahadevan Academy in furthering the cause of music by providing opportunity for adults and children to creatively engage in music.“

Shankar Mahadevan (Founder & Director, Shankar Mahadevan Academy) says, “I am excited about the Academy’s new venture with NCPA. With NCPA, the Academy will now be able to make learning of all styles of Indian music easy, exciting and accessible to the people of my home city, Mumbai. Shankar Mahadevan Academy was founded under the guidance and leadership of the award-winning composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan. The Academy brings high quality Indian music education online for the first time. The Academy also delivers courses in classrooms in its own centers, schools corporates and other centers around the world. The Academy brings online tools and services by providing state of the art content for all music courses on the Internet in a secure way - including on smart phones and other Internet enabled devices. Shankar’s vision for the Academy is to share his love for music with people across the globe and to make learning music easy and fun. Now students have an easy way to learn music in the convenience of their own home, at their own pace.

The Academy is a joint venture between Shankar Mahadevan and Clood On, a provider of an Intelligent Knowledge Delivery Platform founded by executives from Yahoo. The Academy is going through the process of gaining accreditation to become a full University in the US within the framework of NASM (National Association of Schools of Music)

The Academy's mission is to spread the "Joy of Music".

At NCPA, the Academy would be conducting programs in Basics of Music and Bollywood Singing, Grow with Music program for children, Hindustani Vocals and Carnatic Vocals.
