Siddhi Nrityakala Mandir (Vashi) presented Shivoham - Epitome of Cosmic Divinity in the Kathak dance drama format portraying Lord Shiva as Mahadeva and Shiva Charitram featuring the magnificence and the power of the Lord for creation, preservation and destruction. It was exciting to watch Guru Shraddha D Bhide, the director of Siddhi Nrityakala Mandir dancing with her talented disciples at the Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium on 20th August 2023.
The grand spectacle witnessed the participation of over 200 students hailing from Siddhi Nrityakala Mandir with its branches in Sanpada, Ghansoli, and Dombivli. Each performer added their unique touch to the portrayal of Shiva’s stories, contributing to the immersive experience that the audience was treated to.
The show not only showcased the students prowess in dance, but also their enthusiasm and hard work in enacting the dramatic tales to life pertaining to Shiva Purana. Through their graceful movements, intricate footwork, and expressive gestures, the performers succeeded in capturing the essence of Lord Shiva's stories.
The event was graced by the presence of Guru Sangeetacharya Smt. Vaishali Dudhe, who adorned the role of the chief guest, besides the presence of Kuchipudi Kathakali exponent and eminent arts critic, Guru Vijay Shanker.. Guiding the audience through the journey of the show was the proficient compere, Mandar Kharade, who expertly bridged the gap between the stories, the dance, and the audience understanding, making the entire experience enjoyable.
The musical accompaniments played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall experience of the show. The talented ensemble included Shrirang Tembe, who mesmerized the audience with his vocal renditions and harmonium melodies, Paresh Shembekar, who added rhythm and flair with his skillful tabla playing, Rushiraj Salvi, who lent his expertise on the pakhwaj and percussion instruments, and Alka Gujar, whose soulful sitar melodies resonated deeply with the emotions of the performance.
Shivoham: Epitome of Cosmic Divinity; emerged as a triumph, a manifestation of dedication, artistry, and devotion. The synergy between the dancers, the choreographer, the musicians, and the audience created an atmosphere of spiritual resonance and artistic celebration. This unforgettable performance not only paid homage to the stories of Lord Shiva but also showcased the power of art to transcend time and connect with the divine.
