What began as just a one-off collaborative song project for his debut single Spaces in 2019 for Bombay-based artist David Britto aka Arrows, has now turned into a full-blown living and breathing musical entity.
Over the last four years, Arrows has consistently been releasing music and collaborating with some of the most talented artists in India. He recently released his five-track debut EP entitled ‘Friends Tonight, Strangers Again’which out on all platforms.
The EP includes a number of collaborators such as artists Siddharth Basrur, Warren Mendonsa aka Blackstratblues, Saurabh Roy, Bombay Brass, Joel Padikkal, Second Sight, Saachi and Brent Tauro.
Sharing more about this release, David Britto said, “The EP falls into the rock realm as that’s my forte. When it comes to inspiration, each song on the record has its own story and they aren’t necessarily linked by a particular theme of sorts, but they are cohesively meant to be together sonically. The EP covers themes of hope, living in someone else’s shoes, wanting to do without a particular aspect of life, wanting what you can’t have, and finding peace in oneself.”
On collaborating with so many versatile artists, Britto added, “I am truly blessed that I get to work with some of the best Indian indie artists and I am very grateful that those I’ve asked to be part of this EP, said yes to it in a heartbeat. The EP is nothing without these collaborators, they help bring these songs to life.”
From performing at music festivals such as Bacardi NH7 Weekender to Sula Fest and more with Bombay blues-rockers The Tripp, Arrows is musician and songwriter David Britto’s collaborative project launched in 2018. If you haven’t seen Arrows playing a show in Mumbai, you’ve probably spotted and saved his music from Spotify’s ‘Rock in India’ and Apple’s ‘Future Hits’ playlists.
Arrows sees Britto meld his relatable and powerful songwriting with some of Indian indie’s most powerful names including Raghav Meattle, Blackstratblues, Tejas, Riya Duggal, Siddharth Barsur, Vernon Noronha and The Lightyears Explode. As a groundbreaking journalist for the native wing of the iconic music magazine Rolling Stone India, Britto has not only chronicled the country’s art as it makes global waves but also developed a fine ear for the intricacies and diversity of India’s striking, new, original sound. Britto also hosts the My First Record podcast which is noted for being candid and a mini master call on music from some of the best artists of our times. A noted musician, Arrows is all set to release his debut EP in September 2023.
