Nemophilis released their album ‘The Iceberg’, and are also set to perform at I Rock this weekend

Pune-based band Nemophilis have released their much anticipated album ‘The Iceberg’ of 9 songs. They have put out two music videos already as part of this release.

The band put out a music video for One Last Time on 1st October which is the second single from the album 'The Iceberg'.

Nemophilis' latest album, "The Iceberg'' draws parallels between their own lives and the story of endurance, emphasizing the resilience and camaraderie needed to navigate life's challenges.

The album showcases a diverse range of genres and lyrical themes, all centred around a belief in the power of entertainment and its capacity to provoke profound questions about existence.

Tracks like Behind the Veil and Unknown delve into themes of depression and hopelessness, while Stronger inspires a message of persevering through despair. From the tender power ballad What I've Done to the intense nu-metal piece Breathe, the album encapsulates the breadth of human emotions.

Paralyzed and One Last Time were released as striking music videos, touching on themes of fleeting connections and lost opportunities. Despite a history of single releases and a Queen cover, "The Iceberg" marks Nemophilis' official debut album, rekindling hope in the enduring power of the full-length album format and inviting listeners on a transformative journey through its highs and lows.

The three piece rock band is emerging with their electrifying as well as calming songs powered by enchanting harmonies, adept playing and seamless songwriting that narrates stories, perceptions and events that they witness in their lives.

The band members namely lead guitarist and vocalist Kshitij Kumar Choudhary has been playing music for over 10 years and is also the guitar / vocals faculty at Muziclub and a full time musician.

Saurabh Lodha on bass and backing vocals has been in the music scene for over 5 years and besides being a full time musician he also doubles up as a sound engineer, currently working in Gray Spark Audio.

Akarsh Singh on Drums and backing vocals has been playing drums for more than 8 years and has been playing at music festivals like Bangalore Open Air and Sunburn among others.

The trio were inspired by Heavy Metal since a young age, exploring other musical genres as well. Bands that inspire them include AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Mr Big, Metallica, while Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and Poets of the Fall are top of their list when it comes to new music.

The inspiration behind the album:

In 1914, under the indomitable leadership of Ernest Shackleton, a brave band of 27 explorers set forth on an audacious quest: to traverse the frozen expanse of Antarctica on foot. Their vessels, Endurance and Aurora, were to carry them to opposite sides of the continent, with hopes of a triumphant reunion upon success.

However, fate had a different plan. Endurance met a tragic end, succumbing to the unforgiving ice, leaving the crew stranded in the harshest of environments. With unwavering determination, Shackleton and two comrades embarked on a perilous 1333-kilometer journey in a humble 20-foot lifeboat, racing against time to secure aid for their imperiled companions.

Back on the desolate island, the remaining crew members, with provisions for over a year, established a camp named Patience, girding themselves for an indefinite wait. In the midst of Antarctica's frigid embrace and beneath the crystalline skies, these 27 souls, marooned on their frozen citadel, battled despair with a resolute spirit. They staged impromptu theatrical performances, concocted whimsical diversions, and forged a code of camaraderie to endure the seemingly interminable confinement.

After 4 and a half months of uncertain vigil, salvation arrived, and all 27 were plucked from the clutches of desolation, alive and intact. Though the mission was deemed a failure by some, the crew cared not for blame, for they were grateful simply to embrace their loved ones once more.

In "The Iceberg," Nemophilis draws poignant parallels between their own journey and that of Shackleton's crew. Just as the explorers transformed their frozen sanctuary into a bastion of resilience, so too do we navigate the challenges of our own "Icebergs," be they our homes, cities, or the world at large. Together, we weather the tempests of existence, finding solace in each other's company.

This album, a tapestry of diverse genres and lyrical landscapes, remains anchored in the belief that art serves both to entertain and provoke contemplation about life's enigmas. From the haunting depths of Behind The Veil and Unknown, which grapple with the specter of despair, to the rousing anthem of resilience in Stronger, each track offers a kaleidoscope of emotions reflecting our daily struggles.

Paralyzed, a visceral portrayal of an intimate encounter between strangers treading the line between passion and detachment, leads the charge as the album's first single and accompanying music video. Followed by One Last Time, a plaintive ode to the one who slipped through our grasp, the album's visual journey continues. More music videos and live performances are in the works, each seeking to carve out a special place in the hearts of listeners.

"The Iceberg" marks a pivotal milestone for Nemophilis, their inaugural full-length album following a string of singles and a memorable cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Doubts about the enduring relevance of the album format were nearly extinguished, yet here they stand, daring to hope that their musical odyssey will resonate as profoundly as their earlier releases. Through this collection of songs, they invite us to embark on a voyage of highs and lows, much like the cherished albums that have accompanied us on our own journeys.

Besides the rocking new album ‘The Iceberg’, Nemophilis is all set to perform this weekend at the Independence Rock at Bayview Lawns, Mazagon, Mumbai.
