Purbayan Arts Artist and Music Foundation ( PAAMF) is organising Utsaah, ‘Empower. Enlightenment. Entertainment’, an annual music concert featuring some of the finest maestros from the field of music and art and also promoting upcoming, deserving, and talented students from the Foundation.

This year’s edition will be held on Friday, 9th February 9 at Nehru Centre, Worli at 7pm with a performance by eminent vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty along with Ojas Adhiya on Tabla, Murad Ali on Sarangi and Ajay Joglekar on Harmonium. Purbayan Chatterjee will conclude the concert with Classicool and a special performance with students from PAAMF.

PAAMF, organises the concert to encourage its students by giving them a handholding and opportunity with the leading artists from the classical music field. This year , Kaushiki Chakraborty will have a couple of songs with the students from PAAMF after her singing. 

PAAMF is a foundation founded by Purbayan Chatterjee and Ms. Gayatri Asokan to help and promote young musicians from India to discover the market both Indian and International. The vision of PAAMF is to promote Indian young talents and help them explore and achieve their dreams to perform in all possible venues. To make them analyse the right market and provide them a platform to perform, teach, learn different techniques and help them release their repertoire digitally.

While speaking about the concert Utsaah, Purbayan said, “Utsaah is an annual fundraiser show organized by PAAMF. I am delighted that my childhood friend and a very big star in the Indian classical world Kaushiki Chakraborty has agreed to perform for us. She is not only performing khayal but has been kind enough to agree to encourage students of the foundation by performing a couple of pieces with them. Kaushiki Chakraborty said, “Purbayan is my very very good friend. We grew up together and learned music together. He is a musician whom I admire. He is bringing together a wonderful show in which I will be singing. There will be lots of surprises and exciting things at the concert. It is a concert that is being planned to bring a lot of young musicians who are brilliant in their space. I am very happy to be part of the foundation and the concert organised by them. Purbayan, I and students will be there with a lot of fun, music and a lot of experiments. I am excited and I am sure you too will be excited to be part of the concert. Congratulation to the students of the foundation for this wonderful show.”

Sarangi maestro Murad Ali, who is going to accompany Kaushiki said, “I am happy to participate in a concert organised by a very talented and leading artist and my friend Purbayan Chatterjee. I want to congratulate Purbayan and his foundation for this effort and am sure almighty Allah  will make this event successful. I am going to accompany Kaushiki on Sarangi. Looking forward to see all artists, students and music connoisseurs at the event.” 

Young Tabla maestro Ojas Adhiya said that he, too, is excited to be part of the concert Utsach. “The vocal performance by none other than Kaushiki Chakrabortyji with Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee at the helm of it. Janab Murad Ali will be on Sarangi, Ajay Joglekarji on Harmonium and myself on Tabla. All the talented students from PAAMF are also going to perform at the concert. I hope to see all the music lovers in and around Mumbai to be there at the concert,” he said. 

Purbayan Chatterjee is established as one of the leading Sitar Players from India at the present moment. His specialty includes, in addition to performing pure Indian Classical Music, building bridges with different musical cultures and genres. His album Unbounded which features several Grammy Winning Artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain. Bela Fleck, Michael League, Jordan Rudess, Antonio Sanchez, Thana Alexa, etc is a landmark album in Fusion Jazz. His album Saath Saath is also highly commended by the International Media. Purbayan continues his career over all the continents of the world travelling and performing in venues like Carnegie Hall, Barbican Center, Sydney Opera House, etc

Gayatri Asokan is a singer who has made her mark worldwide in Indian film music, Hindustani classical and ghazal genres. She has also won Kerala Government state award for best playback singer. She has performed in the prestigious Shanghai world music festival in the fusion repertoire.
