‘Call Me Bae’ is the talk of the town as we see Ananya Pandey shine through and how. The song Khwaish Adhoori that appears in the very first episode of the series, has touched a nerve with the fans as they see Pandey’s character Bellabeing driven off of her parents’ as well as husband’s home. While being brought up amidst extravagant means, Bella feels shattered and heartbroken after being abandoned, and sits alone figuring out what to do with her life.
The song captures the moment so beautifully and delicately that the fans are left feeling empathy for her character and also connecting with the scene on a more personal level. A phenomenal composition by Rochak Kohli, poetic words of Gurpreet Saini, along with Akanksha Sethi’s angelic voice, Khwaish Adhoori is an acoustic ballad that comes with minimal production yet highlights its raw, authentic charm. It seems like producer Sanjoy understood the assignment and gave the song what it needed.
On chatting with Indie music sensation Akanksha Sethi, she says, “I had gone over to Rochak sir’s studio for a different project, and by the end of it, we were dubbing Khwaish Adhoori as a scratch. Little did we know that it would go on to become one of the most pure sounding songs on Call Me Bae. I always tend to give my 100% even if it’s a demo, which is why we didn’t feel the need to re-dub and loved the way it sounded originally.”
Rochak Kohli, who has given some major hits like Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Tu Hi Yaar Mera and more, adds, “I’d describe this song as a deeply personal piece where the minimalistic production and heartfelt emotions are conveyed through evocative vocals. The song allows the raw emotion to truly connect with the listeners, a purpose well achieved.”
Lyricist Gurpreet adds, “The simplicity in the words that I chose blended perfectly with the composition and the vocals. The song is meant to strike a chord with the listeners where they feel what Bella is feeling and I believe we did justice.”
