Anuradha Pal shines as Global Ambassador with unforgettable performances and innovative interactions.

Renowned Tabla maestro Anuradha Pal has made India proud, after scintillating performances around UK, headlined at the very prestigious WOMAD festival of her unique ‘Anuradha’s Tablas sing stories’ and classic Jugalbandi with Sitar-Sarod duo, Kedia Bandhu.

Performing the classical music of the masters, this TIGALBANDI was interviewed by BBC Radio and WOMAD radio. Their superb chemistry and musical mastery along with Anuradha’s breathtaking display of musical storytelling, where she vividly showcased the Tabla as a melodic-percussive instrument, capable of depicting the nine emotions (Navarasas of Indian philosophy), engaged the audience in a dynamic dialogue that saw them clapping, whistling, and participating in an impromptu sawaal-jawaab segment. A resounding, ten minute standing ovation underscored the mammoth audience' appreciation, while accolades also poured in from the festival organizers.

Anuradha also contributed her expertise at workshops for SAA UK, training, inspiring, mentoring and nurturing the next generation, with her studied and systematic approach. Her engaging, educational sessions were met with immense appreciation, particularly for her unique ability to relate the Tabla to Mathematics, Science and how to convert Art to Music. This innovative approach, blending the technical aspects of the Tabla with depth and dimension provided students and educators with a fresh perspective on the instrument's emotional and scientific elements.

While Anuradha has performed in over 7000 concerts in 30+ countries, her previous performances at WOMAD and Woodstock festivals, won her the prestigious ‘First Ladies’ award (2018) from President Kovind, for her rich contribution to Indian music and particularly in elevating the status of the Tabla. Recognized as the world’s first professional female Tabla maestro, Anuradha has pioneered several landmark projects like ‘Stree Shakti’, India’s first all-female classical band, that has empowered over 100 women artists, instituted awards for women and championed gender equality, diversity and inclusivity in the arts, since 1996.

Her collaboration with Dior for their Fall '23 show was a historic achievement, reaching over 13 million viewers worldwide and seamlessly integrating Indian classical music with high fashion, thereby elevating stature of Indian art and music, to a global audience.

Anuradha’ innovative works, including the truly unique background score for ‘Gaja Gamini’ and ‘Anuradha's Tablas Sing Stories’, a pioneering concept she introduced in 2005, have redefined the Tabla’s role in contemporary music. These projects blend traditional rhythms and learnings from the Indian epics, with modern storytelling, breaking new ground, highlighting her exceptional artistry and her influential role as a global ambassador for Indian Classical music. who has already earned her over 120 prestigious honors and 50 million views on Social media.
