Chosen from across the length and breadth of the country, twelve young gifted singers began their musical journey 13 weeks ago, on the fifth season of ZEE TV’s immensely popular singing reality talent hunt show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’. Week on week they took up challenges, proved their mettle and dazzled the audiences with memorable performances. The show, now in its final phase, has declared its Top 5 contestants who will battle it out for the coveted title. Airing its final episode on 21st March, 8pm on Zee TV, the show is set to give India its next Li’l Champ. What’s even more exciting is that the original host of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and ace singer Sonu Niigam will not just grace the occasion with his presence but also host the finale and sing along with the Li’l Champs.
ZEE TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has built its legacy over the years and has introduced the country to some of its demigods of music. The show has attracted some of the biggest names of the music fraternity as judges and has been instrumental in spotting and nurturing budding talent. The finale of the fifth season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs will see Singers Sonu Niigam, Shaan and Aditya, each having been a host of previous seasons of the show, come together on the platform as hosts for the finale. While Aditya and Shaan will also perform together some of the current chartbusters, Sonu Niigam will present a medley of his popular numbers along with the Li’l Champs.
With the guidance of the Captains Shaan and Monali Thakur and Mahaguru Alka Yagnik, the Li’l Champs have undergone an experience that has equipped them with the nuances of playback singing and also trained them to perform in front of thousands at a young age. Apart from having such an experienced panel of mentors, the contestants were trained by some of the most renowned music composers and singers like Asha Bhosale, Anu Malik, Pritam, Sajid-Wajid and Salim-Suleiman amongst others. These stalwarts with their knowledge praise and encouragement enriched the musical journey of the Li’l Champs. Besides giving the contestants a chance to perform on the show with ace singers and musicians, an extensive mentorship programme was also undertaken for them. Wherein young musicians like Raghav Sachar and Amal Malik jammed with the Li’l Champs and trained them. To give them a holistic training in music, Ashutosh Pathak, the co-founder of one of the most recognized music schools in the city took a distinct workshop on composing and recording jingles.
Surpassing all challenges given by the Captains and Mahaguru and proving themselves in all genres of singing, the Top 5 Li’l Champs who have made it to the finals are, the 11 year old Arunita Kanjilal from Kolkata who has won herself the title of ‘Manch Ka Ghuroor’ by the Mahaguru, the spunky 11 year old Keshav Tyohar from Patna whose growth on the show has surprised the Captains and Mahaguru alike; 13 year old Punjab da puttar Ridham Kalyan, who’s versatility and exceptional ‘englis’ speaking abilities has vowed not just the mentors but also the audiences. 13 year old Gagan Gaonkar from Udupi in Karnataka, who made a mark for himself as the most energetic performer and budding music composer and lastly the youngest Li’l Champ, 9 year old Aishwarya Saha from Kolkata also fondly called Suron ki raani and naani, who got a standing ovation from the legendry Asha Bhosle herself for her performance.
These Li’l Champs are gearing up and preparing for the final litmus test and are all set to put their best foot forward to please the judges and most importantly the junta.
