50s Bollywood song gets a new twist

The popular Hemant Kumar-Lata Mangeshkar melody of  the 50's, Film: ‘Post  Box 999’ from the  repertoire of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group owned music label Saregama India  Ltd, gets a new avatar for the upcoming Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt  romcom ‘Shaandaar’.

Old Bollywood songs undeniably have had the most memorable lyrics. They convey emotions in a way that lyricists today have struggled to showcase. “Neend na mujhko aaye, dil mera ghabraye, chupke chupke koi aake soya pyaar jagaye”, a masterpiece by lyricist P.L Santoshi, father of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ director Rajkumar Santoshi is recently revamped in the new track of movie ‘Shaandaar’. The original track is composed by Kalyanji - Anandji and sung by Hemant Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. Mickey McCleary has taken the pace of the song many levels higher by giving it a rock touch using youthful voices of Siddhart Basrur and Saba Azad. the song is a peppy new take on the Kalyanji - Anandji classic.
