International Performing Arts Festival presented Disha - a festival of new directions in Indian music and dance showcasing the award winning performers in the field of art. The festival was inaugurated by Mumbai Police Commissioner Mr. Javed Ahmed.
The festival began with an invocation sung by Disha Jha, film director and daughter of renowned film maker Prakash Jha. Disha Jha’s performance was followed by another lovely performance S3 (Stree) by Anurima Kumar who is Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskaar awardee and world renowned Kuchipudi dancer teacher and choreographer based in London. Anurima’s piece was on the life journey of three goddesses- Rati, Sita and Sati. The act showed them in the theme of love and sacrifice.
Another Kathak classic was presented by Vidhi Lal, an Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskaar awardee and Guinness record holder, enchanted the audience with her new work in the classical act.
Amongst all these classical acts, Disciples of Old Monk entertained audience with the exclusive mix of Carnatic Music, Jazz and Metallic performance.
The event saw the presence of Poonam Singh, wife of veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha with Mr. Kalikesh Singh Deo, MP Loksabha, Mr. Neeraj Kumar, (Advisor to BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit & Former Commissioner of Police, Delhi ), Mr. B.B. Bhatnagar, Deputy Chief Labor Commissioner (Central Mumbai).
