For the youth of today, music and drugs have become almost synonyms, and many consider drugs an important aspect of creativity. However, DJ Roshan Manskhani feels otherwise. A pioneer in his field, he believes music has the power to cure addiction. He has been instrumental in using music therapy to wean youngsters away from drugs and alcohol.
Thadomal Shahani Centre for Media and Communications (TSCMC) organized a session with Mansukhani, who shared some priceless anecdotes of his association with music and the impact of this music on the ‘generation Y’. Such interactive discussions with change-makers is the motive behind #CMCEvenings, a platform that enables a ‘connect over conversation’.
DJ Roshan addressed the issue as a ‘dependency’and how music provides a breakthrough for those looking for a distraction or a hobby to channelize their talents. The session soon turned out to be an experience sharing platform, where students opened up about their own life stories. He also stressed upon the fact that creativity is not related to chemicals, but upon our own mindset.
“Each one of us has music within us, the challenge is to channelize it effectively,” concluded Roshan.
