To mark the occasion and officially launch of a 4 CD pack of Rare Darbar music recorded by the late His Highness of Kishangarh, His Highness Maharaja Brajraj Singh and Maharani Meenakshi Devi of Kishangarh along with Ankur and Smriti Bhatia came to host this grand event at The Dusit Devarana New Delhi.
It is a coming together of live music recorded in the darbars of Bikaner, Jaipur, Udaipur and Kishangarh in the fifties and sung by nightingales of the courts then: Lalitabai (Kishangarh), Allah Jillai Bai (Bikaner), Gauhar Jaan Niyazi (Jaipur) and Gauri Bai (Jodhpur).
Seen gracing the occasion was Maharaj Jai Singh – Jaipur, Princess Siddhi Kumari of Bikaner, Maharaj Raghuvendra Singh Rathore- Jodhpur and Princess Sarveshwari Kumari of Kishangarh, who each represented their courts from the bygone era.
The guest of honor for the evening was Maharana Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar. The evening was well attended by music enthusiasts and who’s who from Delhi’s social circle. “It is a great moment for me, I have grown up listening to these great voices perform live. I feel privileged and honored that I have been able to preserve and recreate the magic of the era bygone. These great works were saved and recorded by my father and being able to carry this legacy forward is truly an honor indeed.” said His Highness Maharaja Brajraj Singh of Kishangarh.
The CD was launched in association with Music Today. On this occasion, Ms. Mala Sekhri, COO Music Today said “Music Today is happy to support the preservation of Indian culture and tradition. The recordings are rare and to be able to share them with music lovers around the world through our network is a proud moment for us.”
