Call for entries now live for the coveted GIMA awards 2017

Dedicated to celebrating musical excellence, The Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) Awards has announced the 7th edition of its prestigious awards, inviting entries from music labels, producers, and independent artistes. The Call for Entries went live from Friday, 23rdDecember 2016 and will be open until Sunday, 8th January 2017.

Music Labels, Film Producers and Independent artistes need to send in their music released between 1st January 2016 – 31st December 2016. The entries can be sent through the official website of GiMA: http://gima.co.in/.

Today, the GIMA awards is the most definitive platform that honours talent in Indian music. A GiMA nomination itself is a validation of musical quality and only the most outstanding, across multiple genres, have received a nomination, and the finest take home the coveted GiMA. Now in its 7th edition, GiMA will continue to applaud the best in Indian music; those who have created music with the power to touch millions of lives.

Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizcraft International says, “With every passing year GiMA has grown bigger and better with interesting categories & initiatives.As we enter our 7th year, we look forward to taking this legacy ahead and honour artistic achievements, bringing together the Indian music fraternity on a unified platform.”

Commenting on the Awards, GiMA Advisory Board Member, Shridhar Subramanian, MD - Sony Music India and Chairman of IMI and PPL said “Every year GiMA recognizes and awards the Industries best and exposes new talent and great performances. This year the industry comes together to celebrate artists and music.”

Remarkably talented singer and performer, Sonu Nigam says, “GiMA, for years now has been one of the biggest musical platforms that every musician wants to be a part of. As we step into the 7th edition of the GiMA Awards, I am pleased to be a part of this great platform and witness some impeccable performances and talents being appreciated for all their extraordinary work.”

GiMA encapsulates a plethora of genres including classical, devotional, pop, rock, fusion, Bollywood, folk and more with the total number of award categories being22 with 11 in the Film and 11in the Non-Film segment. The voting process is open only to members from the Indian music industry and is monitored by KPMG, process advisors and evaluators for the awards.The Jury members which comprises of experts across various genres of the music industry are actively involved in the voting process for the nominees.The Academy that comprises of over 350 members of the music and film industry votes for the final winners in a secret ballot process. The Advisory Board plays an important part in streamlining the Awards process; and all major decisions are taken with the consensus of the Board.

The Advisory Board and Jury consist of some of the noted names like Javed Akhtar, Dr. L Subramanium, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Prasoon Joshi, Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Mukesh Bhatt and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra among others.
