Suresh Wadkar receives Honorary Doctorate Degree

Renowned singer Suresh Wadkar has received an Honorary Doctorate Degree for his outstanding contribution to music as part of DY Patil University's fifth convocation ceremony. The convocation ceremony took place DY Patil University, Mumbai in January 2017.

Suresh Wadkar, who is best known for popular Bollywood songs such as Lagiaaj sawanki, Tum se milke aisa laga, Chhodaaye hum woh galiya an and many more has been part of the music industry for over three decades. The versatile singer has even performed in both Hindi as well as Marathi films. He has also in multiple languages including songs for Bhojpuri films, Odia albums and bhajans and in Konkani films as well.

Suresh Wadkar described Doctorate from DY Patil University, as a great privilege and honour.

Just few months back, he was appointed as the Chairman for Board of Studies in Hindustani Music at Mumbai University. The singer has donated his entire life spreading his musical knowledge to aspiring singers through Ajivasan, the institute that his guru Acharya Jiyalal Vasant has started off 84 years back. After his guru ji's demise, Suresh Wadkar took up the responsibility and since then he has been involved with the Institute.
