Interviews with a twist on Off The Roof Stories

The country’s favourite folk-music-singing, lungi-wearing band, The Raghu Dixit Project, once found themselves in Mexico devoid of their luggage, forcing them to play a gig in what frontman Raghu Dixit calls their “travel chaddis”. On another occasion, the band played a gig in the snow in Gulmarg, dressed in lungis and barefoot – while the flautist spent the gig holding the drum kit in place, bassist GauravVaz ended up with his fingers frozen to his guitar.

A new, monthly video series, Off The Roof Stories will catch up with some of India’s most interesting musicians as they play atop the Red Bull Tour Bus, to interview them as never before and unearth the tales they would otherwise never tell. The first instalment features one of India’s favourite contemporary folk bands, The Raghu Dixit Project, whose brand of infectiously happy music transcends genre, age and language.

Upcoming episodes of the series will feature solo percussive acoustic guitarist, Delhi-based Dhruv Visvanath, Indus Creed, one of India’s longest-standing and beloved rock bands, and Sapta, a Chennai-based live electronic act that merges Indian and western influences.
