The true meaning of freedom from Sanjay Maroo

Sanjay Maroo is a multifaceted Mumbai based musician who has been in the industry as a drummer, singer, composer, lyricist, and producer for over three decades.

Maroo is back in the news and this time its for his upcoming single Altered Reality which is a very significant release coming in time for India’s Independence Day on 15th August.

The clutter breaking video features Sanjay intensely talking to you about freedom and its true meaning in today's complicated world. Sanjay’s unabashed lyrics ignites the listener's mind by bringing up a very critical point through his single leaving audiences thinking - “ What is real freedom, what does one need freedom from, what is the responsibility attached to such freedom and to what extent can one exercise it?”

Born into a business inclined family, Maroo was an unusual candidate who started drumming at the age of 14. His early experiences of just listening to music and air-drumming put him in a trance that was hard to snap out of and allowed him to infinitely visualize the future that he now holds.

To his credit, Maroo has 7 albums which have ranked and trended across audiences since mid-90s and early 2000’s. His most recent release ‘Headspaces’ was among the top-lists on iTunes. Besides his experience as a composer/producer/ writer, Maroo also holds The Limca Book of records 2009 record for fastest double bass foot drumming @ 1106 beats per minute which was a milestone in his career. Maroo has played at major International Jazz festivals such as the 25th Tokyo Jazz festival, the Malaysian Jazz festival, The Jazz club Hong Kong etc. alongside Jazz greats such as The late Dave Valentin, Giovanni Hidalgo, Ernie Watts and Eric Marienthal and with some of India’s best-known bands.
