No Angel – Dido - (BMG – Crescendo)

The leader of electronica band Faithless, Rollo brings an edgy vitality to Dido's soothing croon with his electronic textures and surreal production. Dido produced the album, along with her bother, Rollo. Combining Dido's love for warm acoustic sounds and her brother's fascination for beats and all things electronic, the album is both new the classic at the same time this album both durable and successful. Using her warm, soulful scoon, Dido paints pictures of scorned lovers, lovelorn misery and longing.

Unified by both Dido's stunning voice and lyrical acuteness, the album travels through various and diverse styles ranging from the impassioned magnificence of first single 'Here With Me has become the theme to the hit WB TV series Roswell, even being played in its entirely during the season finale. The gentle soulfulness of Thank You has made her a name to reckon.  Rapper Eminen used a portion of Thank You which was already featured in the Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors to incorporate into 'Stan' the haunting single from his No. 1 album. This has pushed Dido's album past the No. 1 position on the Billboard charts, and she is now rapidly climbing the Top 200 Album chart. And, with well-received appearances Dido's visibility and popularity continue to rise.

After a line-up of slow burning mellow tunes, Dido cuts loose on Take My Hand a grooving, beat-feat that fuses Dido's keening wail with a pulsating baseline, shimmering beats and streaky violins that all come together in a final blaze of glory.

The album transcends the boundary that divides the two erstwhile separate worlds of dance / electronica and contemporary pop music. Worth a listen.
