Grammy winners Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood pool in their musical talents to bring you a country pop Christmas, a pure Nashville production, packed with superb vocal harmonies and neat arrangements in a perfect holiday themed album.
Besides some great renditions of Christmas classics like The First Noel, Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow, Silver bells and a few others, they have also put in a few peppy originals, which can be enjoyed by all. Their retro take on the opening A Holly Jolly Christmas is welcome with its swinging melody.
They take the help of Phil Spector on a worked up Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), while in the same vein they set the groove in Blue Christmas with a boogie-woogie piano arrangement that help make the festive tune danceable. The band has tried a slow takes on the otherwise up-tempo All I want for Christmas is you, putting their stamp on the song with ease followed by This Christmas that gets nostalgic with soul treatment laced with a buttery smooth rhythm section and some brassy, Motown flavored horn arrangements. Hillary's voice is smooth and harmonious in Silent Night while Charles shines in I'll Be Home for Christmas.
Definitely recommended for Lady Antebellum fans as well as those who are looking for a mix of holiday nostalgic music with a perfect mix of Christmas from reverie to reverence.
