The Eagles are soaring high once again. This time its 28 years after their last album ‘The Long Run’ in 1979. The four time Grammy winners bring the same sound of the 70s in their brand new album of all new studio material consisting of 20 tracks. A few real standouts would be How Long has a catchy sing-along feeling, to What do I do with my heart, Do something that has good moments. Vocalist Glen Frey, drummer Don Henley, Joe Walsh contributes some great guitar solos, while bassist Timothy B. Schmit gives off a remarkable performance. The nearly eight-minute Waiting in the Weeds, proves how the band can hold your attention for a long time.

The title track of the album, 10 minutes long, is filled with desert effects, great guitar solos and spiritual overtones. The song speaks about consumerism and its effects.

It’s a smart move for the Eagles to market their latest album targetted to the country market and garner brownie points with artists like Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.

Compared to their most famous songs, the songwriting on ‘Long Road Out of Eden’ simply doesn’t measure up as compared to their earlier work. The album’s massive first-week sales on its release, rivaled many artist who were vying for the position, will only shows that the Eagles are still commercially relevant, and hopefully can influence another generation of musicians who have never listened to them before.

A very compelling album that should get fans nostalgic once again.
