Exile on Mainstream – Matchbox Twenty (EMI Music) Rs. 395/-

Many thought the band had called it quits after their last album ‘More than you think you are’ (2002) and thereafter Rob Thomas immensely successful solo career in 2005 and bandmate Adam Gaynor’s departure.

Fans waited for the greatest hits collection and lo and behold more than 10 years after their debut, Matchbox Twenty or M20, MBT, matchbox twenty, finally come out with their fourth album with six new songs accompanying 11 old favorites. Among the new pieces, you have the heavy opener ‘How far we’ve come’ to the slower section in ‘These hard times’ and ‘Can’t let you go’ among the better of the six.

While M20 have created a massive collection of songs it’s not possible to feature all the very best on this compilation, so what you have is Long Day, Push, 3am, Real World, Mad season, Unwell to the balladic If you’re gone.

If you’re really fined tuned to M20 and are true followers of the band from its beginnings, you may find that Last Beautiful Girl, Leave, Bed of Lies, and All I need are given the royal miss on this compilation. It may take some time before the band decides to bring out another album of all brand new material, but till then this is a good bet for their fans.
