Body Language – Kylie Minogue – (Virgin Records) Rs. 395/-

Kylie crashed into the charts a few years age with some corking dance tunes from her last studio album ‘Fever’ that really chilled her fans.

Her much anticipated album after a few years of hibernation is complimented by gorgeous pop tunes that are smashingly attractive at the first listen. The eighties diva scores on with her song writing, majestic vocals and her ‘body language’ running right through the album.

The groovesome hi-energy album opens up with the whispery Slow that has enticing lyrics which go ’….spin me 180’ degrees, its so electric, slow down and dance with me, Yeah, slow,….. but gets over just as you feeling like listening to it again. It is also the first single from the album which is a sure standout. The track was written by Kylie, Emiliana Torrini and Dan Carey. The rest of the tracks are in usual Kylie style and have her all chant along choruses and hugely danceable pieces, funky enough to grab you to shake a leg. There’s hit material in Secret (Take you home), another brilliant tune which falls in line is Promises which speaks of just what it says. The lyrics of the song swell like  “Remember how you promised me, that life would always be good, You forget the fact that you lied to me……”. A nice name for a song is Sweet Music that’s pulsating and surely a disco thumper, with one of those sing-song times. It’s got good bass cuts that could be just the ticket for shaking your goods in a trendy night - spot where it will doubtless be lapped up with much verve and gusto. Red Blooded Woman is a slightly slower piece, echoey contraption, catchy and a warning about the boy who’s after this woman. Nice and smooth, this one. The steamy and sexy bits like these continue with the sweet and tasty Chocolate that has a slight variation of Slow that should melt you immediately. The slow beats done in an upbeat style are appealing.

Skipping Obsession and I feel for you that are unadventurous, we have Someday, slow and sexy about a failed relationship and the glinting, salty tear of the song on the cheek of modern romance. In a balladic vein we continue with the more positive side of romantic love with Loving Days and the finale After Dark that has naughty lyrics, really inviting true Body language’for the millions of Kylie fans all over the world. The sexy piece tinged with good bass swirls of faint - hearted backing strings, meandering comfortably toward’s Kylie’s last refrain.

Kylie’s a forward – thinking young woman and her latest offering is bold, compared to her bubble gum Locomotion days when she was just chugging along her solo career, side by side with beau – Jason Donovan in ‘Neighbours’. Her latest album is well starched bathing in chart success, her tonsils in working order, her freshly licked songwords all go to make a combo of a great album for this year end. Cathy Dennis chips in to add some glorious power to Minogue. On the whole Kylie’s ‘Body Language’is simply stunning. The inlay also has a snapshot of the Kylie in various moods. Lyrics included.
