Songbird – The Best Saxophone Songs Ever – Double Album (Times Music) Rs. 175/-

Kenny G has made a huge impact on the music scene with his hypnotic grooves and witty combination of fire and sensitivity. The 30 pieces on this collection that clocks over two hours, are perfect for an evening with friends or background score while you go about doing your work.

It must be said that on this album, Kenny G has also done a few covers of pop songs by well-known artists, in an instrumental manner only he can. Kenny’s music is spine tinglingly accomplished and emotion drenched as ever on popular pieces such as Miracles, Songbird, The Wedding Song, By the time this night is over, Brahm’s Lullaby and Forever in Love on Disc One.

Havana on Disc Two is another trendy track that he’s famous for as the saxophonist lets loose and is blissful when he takes on the high notes. Kenny also does a peppy version of Elvis’s Moody Blue, this meeting between the rock and roll and the sax is ice cool and simply beautiful. Elsewhere, this now ageing romantic gives you a range of textures on tracks like The End of the night, Waiting for you, The Moment, Greensleeves, Sentimental and Theme from Dying Young.

While it may seem an overdose if played at one go, Kenny G gives a scintillating performance that is luminous all over.
