Love is My Religion – Ziggy Marley (Freespirit Music) Rs. 299/-

Son of the legendary Bob Marley, who revolutionized Reggae music globally, Ziggy Marley
brings a mix of blues, soulful hip hop and reggae on the 12 track album that showcases Ziggy’s
tightly rolled talents as a songwriter, musician and producer.

The album is an expansion upon the personal, social and political themes explored in Ziggy’s
2003 debut ‘Dragonfly’. Though very much reggae flavored, the opening Into the Groove is
pretty danceable, while the title track Love is my religion brings about the message of the
unifying devotion to love that needs to be preached in churches, mosques and synagogues.

Other topics he moves on to is friendship, with Friend and Beach in Hawaii that offer an ode to
love. He takes on the supernatural with Keep on Dreamin where he extends his love into the
spiritual world, reconnecting with his father through dreams. The political side comes in the very
tuneful Still the Storms and Be Free, with the latter imploring the listener to reject the
manipulating power of fear. The album closes with an acoustic guitar version of Love is my
Religion and a bass – heavy, trip hop mix of Be Free.

If reggae is your beat, tune in to a great artist who brings a message.
