Iglesias has been away for quite some time, for the pop world anyway, his last record Euphoria was released to wild success back in 2010. Since then we have heard him bringing out singles, but the long awaited album was due anytime. But then we have a look at the playlist what we find is the guest spots; we have 6 guests artists, while just 5 tracks are purely Iglesias. It’s a very collaborative album for sure,
The singer’s 10th studio album is supposed to pick up where his last album left off. As the title suggests, it is a straightforward talk of exactly what the album is all about. So what you have on this 11 track album is songs that focus on one or the other topic from the title. While some of the tracks are and downright sexual in content, the others are more introspective and nostalgic. Though the words go together on the songs, it sometimes is separate.
The Spanish language songs are more on the deluxe version of the album (not available in India) and the only one present on the Indian edition is Bailando (“Dancing”) (featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona). The song is essential listening as its heavy on dance pop, which most of the album is. You have the 38 year old crooning over the very upbeat and catchy Bailando that leaves you asking for more.
The other tunes to blast at your next party would surely be Physical (with Jennifer Lopez) is a bonafide party-starter with the kind of anthemic chorus and sexy lyrics we’ve come to expect from the hit maker. The club bangers go on with You and I a clear stand-out party hit. I’m a Freak (featuring Pitbull) is definitely ‘freaky’ and predictable from both artists. On There Goes My Baby, Iglesias essentially trades one pop-rapper for another and brings in Flo Rida for another jumpy ride. Heart Attack is another piece that holds its place in the club arena and sure to be a favorite as it is chocked full of production values of synths/keys, hard drums and acoustic guitars. In the same vein we have the Pitbull-assisted naughty lyrics in Let Me Be Your Lover. The song lays more emphasis thankfully on fun than the targeted physical pleasure we are known to hear from Pitbull or Iglesias. Other must listens include Still Your King, Only a Woman and Turn the Night Up.
To cool the tempo down we have Iglesias in a subtle electro-ballad with Kylie Minogue on Beautiful something of a grower and become sweeter with each listen. It’s the best part of the album, and ballads are something what Iglesias has been known to give in a big way. This is truly beautiful.
The album is infectious with no strings attached, if you want the club sound this is the album to go for. Unlike his earlier ballad based albums, this one is a tad different, but fans would surely lap it up.
