Talk of having a music band made up of family members and you could have an exhaustive list of them.
With Children’s Day just gone by, we focus on a band that consists of three brothers who grew up together. The trio is an American boy band hailing from Wyckoff, New Jersey, and consists of three brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas who play simple pop – rock music which is loveable at the first listen.
Before we move on to the album, here are just a few the bands that compose of brothers. In the past there has been the pop singers The Fairweather Brothers, Hanson, country stars The Bellamy Brothers, The Allman Brothers, The Everly Brothers, The Righteous Brothers, to rock bands like The Doobie Brothers, The Brothers Four, The McCoys, The Carpenters and the latest addition to the pop band wagon is pop – rock stars The Jonas Brothers who were nominated for the Best New Artist at the 51st Grammy Awards.
The album consists of 13 well-delivered, mostly up-tempo (though a couple of ballads are also on the album) tracks that are pretty pop - rock sweeteners that will surely be well received by teenagers all around. The music has long guitar solos, heavy drumming and vocals done extremely well backed by good vocal arrangements. You could check out Got me going crazy and One man show.
Inspiration for the group's songs comes directly from the boys' personal experiences, from the roller-coaster ride of middle-school romances and adolescent love to being on the road, to having been given the opportunity to follow their dreams at such a young age. The lyrics are passionate and beautiful and stem from their heart and are written by either one or more of the Jonas Brothers.
Try Video Girl about superficial girls who only want fame or money. The song is catchy with a good hook. The album title song A Little Bit Longer is written solely by Nick Jonas who is a diabetic. It’s a slow song about his relationship with diabetes and how he’s trying to raise awareness and money for diabetes. He puts his illness in words and music and recounts how he came to know he had diabetes.
Performances are energetic and effective, featuring silky-smooth vocals and some excellent guitar work. The boys manage to tone their vocals on high and lows professionally as seen in the loud Pushin me away’ to the heart felt Sorry. The boys' fantastic third album (two earlier albums were not commercially released) is steeped in the fuzzed-up guitars, three-part harmonies and amazing choruses. The fact that they are a Disney boy band showcases them in a new light.
The oldest, Kevin, who plays guitar and sings backing vocals, Joseph or Joe the other sibling is the main vocalist of the band while Nicholas, who shares lead vocals with Joseph in the group, is the songwriter here doubling as keyboardist, guitarist and vocals.
Burnin’ Up also their first single has a little rapping in between which fits in well with the dance groove of the song. Lovebug starts out slowly and comes to a resounding climax with a heavy ripping guitar work, just like most of the songs here. The finale to the album comes in the ballad When you look me in the Eyes a well composed tune showcasing the boys in their individual avtaar.
Teen pop stars have slowly made their mark from Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus; they have managed to carve a niche for themselves. This appealing, energetic, teen-friendly album is sure to find a few takers. While content-wise, there's not much to object, the heavy pop – rock sound may not be loved by everyone, but that aside the boys are eye candy, have good voices and are sure to be around for sometime. Don’t miss the first-ever enhanced CDVU (pronounced "view plus") format a bonus for fans which boasts photos, videos, lyrics, and an interactive poster all accessible on any computer.
