We still remember Jackson, and this album is his final studio and his tenth studio work, so work. Releaased in the end of 2001, the album has some fine moments to recall the songs he made that became final work for his fans.
His first studio album in six years, promised a lot when the marketing campaign set out to state that the man had once again made an attempt to reinstate himself back as the rightful King of Pop. For an MJ album release is always, a bit thing, no matter if its Greatest Hits album or some news about the man.
On the strength of the single You Rock my World the album topped the charts in 23 countries on the first day of release. The massive original version of the video has the likes of comedian Chris Tucker, and even the great – ‘godfather’ Marlon Brando. The track however has its bright moments and its subject is a female who Jackson cheers on. This, probably due to its rapid airplay is the most ear - catching track on the album. There’s also Cry a balladic tune with some inspiring vocals. However the rest of the songs leave a lot to be desired. It is a collection of consistent funk tracks and a few ballads, which break the monotony
Jackson’s ‘man in the mirror’ image seems to be fading as the other tracks lack lustre and pomp. His innovation, which made him the darling of music lovers and got him millions of fans, is slowly or almost diminishing.
But if you have to take a listen to this album, you could single out the title track (which also features the late Notorious BIG), Whatever Happens which has Carlos Santana jamming to a Spanish guitar beat and ‘Speechless’ which marks a brave effort to re - orientate an entire track to his incredible voice.
‘Invincible’ doesn’t give you much for the money you pay. Surely the boy bands can cash in on the ‘moolah’ even with the 40 something Michael releasing a new album and posing no danger to sales figures. This then is the fate of the much-anticipated MJ album. Die-hard MJ fans could go for it, or probably settle for his newly released – Greatest Hits, which will leave you a lot happier Get your own copy to find out the difference.
