Lynyrd Skynyrd live in Concert

Lynyrd Skynyrd is a band whose live albums are far ahead than their studio albums and capture the true essence of their music. It's no different even today as they fired all cylinders and delivered a kickass show as headliner.

Watching Skynyrd from the first row and seeing Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke and Johnny Van Zant in person was a dream come true to me. Highlights of their 14 song set were Workin' for MCA, Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, Tuesday's Gone and That Smell. But, the real magic of the evening was when they played their magnum opus Freebird.

After singing the first verse, Johnny kept a hat on the mike stand and the band played the 2nd verse with recorded vocals of Ronnie Van Zant, which was a pure goose bump to watch, only immediately followed by the lengthy and furious triple guitar solo by Rickey, Gary and Mark and extended climax of the show.

A concert to be cherished forever. Lynyrd Skynyrd rules. It was a wild concert, I’d say.
