The Huntsman – Winter’s War – (Reliance Home Video) - Rs. 599/-

Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Nick Frost, Rob Brydon, Jessica Chastain

You could term this film as a prequel, sequel and original fantasy story all rolled into one, as the follow up to ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’. With its stunning costumes, brilliant sets, to its marvelous special effects and superb script, this film is entertaining and would be loved by the young (over 13) and old alike, all thanks to a great cast who try to reinvent the fairy tale story of Snow White and whose famous words …”Mirror Mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all?” take you back to fairyland.

The action – adventure begins in the palace of evil queen Revenna (Charlize Theron) who was also the villain in the first film and features again here. This time Revenna betrays her sister Freya (Emily Blunt) and is shunted out of the boundaries of Revenna’s empire. She leaves heartbroken but soon discovers her own magical powers.

Far away in another kingdom Freya becomes the ice queen, ruler of a frost bitten kingdom where professing love is forbidden and young children are stolen from their parents to be raised and tutored to become lethal warriors, loyal subjects and slaves to her throne. Freya takes a fancy to two young children Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Sara (Jessica Chastain) who shows bravery and courage in her kingdom. When her two best huntsmen grow up and fall in love, Freya is furious and tries to separate them. But the love birds manage to slip away and leave her kingdom and move to another place. But while on the run they lose each other.

Several years later, the two meet and team up with a band of soldiers to find Snow White’s stolen magic mirror before it falls into Freya’s hands. Freya gets a whiff of their appearance and hunts them down, which also leads her to a final showdown with her sister Reveena. Watch the film to know what happens next.

You also get around 20 minutes of bonus features.
