‘Gods of Egypt’ has not only a good storyline, the producers have spent considerable amount of time making sure the audio transfer is of the highest quality. The bombastic score and sound effects will give your surround system quite a workout. The sets and costumes of each actor are of the period and suit the film well.

The film is set in ancient Egypt where gods and men lived together. The gods are like superheroes, taller and with magical powers. They can transform from human form into metallic animals. The story is of two brothers, the beloved Osiris (Bryan Brown) and his brother Set (Gerard Butler) who has lived his life in the desert and has become stone hearted. Osiris decides to make his son King. All of Egypt gathers for the film's opening coronation, where he will crown his son Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

Just as he is set to ascend the throne, Set enters and a verbal duel erupts. Osiris is brutally murdered by his jealous brother, Set. Horus tries his best to outwit Set, but is blinded in both eyes leaving his father’s people of Egypt subjected to a harsh tyrannical rule of Set. A local, Bek (Brenton Thwaites), hopes to one day help Horus gain his sight. Bek is in love with Zaya (Courtney Eaton) who works at the palace. Bek showers her gifts and makes a daring attempt to retrieve one of Horus' stolen eyes from the palace and elope with Zaya.

While the two flee, Set's right hand man Master Builder (Rufus Sewell), shoots an arrow into Zaya, killing her instantly. Bek surrenders the eye to Horus, who is locked in a dungeon and begs him to bring his beloved back from death. Reluctantly, Horus agrees to do what he can do to save Zaya. The duo then set off on a journey to confront Set, braving fiery monsters, giant beetles, gigantic birds, Horus to get back his throne and Bek resurrecting his love Zaya.
