The Last Tenor – Pavarotti (Import)

This film, commissioned by the BBC, follows Luciano Pavarotti through a momentous period of his life, as he says goodbye to some of the world's great opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera House and the Deutsche Opera Berlin. You can follow the footsteps of the career of the world-famous tenor, from his early life growing up in war-torn Italy, to his accession as the greatest operatic tenor in the world.

Pavarotti's charming smile as he conveyed his thoughts on his music and his family, sharing childhood memories, and discussing the development of his career was captivating. Seeing the actual video of Pavarotti as a young man, visiting the home in Modena where he was born, singing with his father, interviews with his soccer friends and his sister were especially touching.

There is so much to love about the two hours of pure joy. All the interviews are very interesting and the one with Bono (U2), where he speaks highly about the maestro. Bono was honest and told of his love for the maestro.

This DVD showcases his music and life as he completes 70 long years. His version of Nessun Dorma at the end gives you goose bumps.

Watching this DVD you will truly be fascinated with Pavarotti's talent and charisma. It was wonderful to see an overview of his life and influences. One can never tire of pure excellence and mastery. Although there is a lot on his life, there isn’t much of his singing here. He has a  distinctive voice that is unique in the world - too bad he is no longer with us.

Pavarotti was the most superb tenor ever. Rest In Peace my friend. You are the BEST forever.

Don’t miss the flyer in the DVD case that has all the details to the DVD and a lot more on the tenor himself.
