The title ‘Sing Blue Silver’ is reflected in the pale blue velvet-type covered presentation box that includes a chunky black and white photo booklet with loads of pictures of the band members, shot backstage, with fans, at their live shows and of course some candid moments too. There’s also 5 black and white postcard of all 5 ‘boys’, individually.
In 1984, Duran Duran toured Canada and America. It was their first major tour as headliners in these 2 countries. Over 79 days they travelled approximately 18,000 miles and played 51 shows in 43 cities to over 550,000 fans.
The entire tour was filmed for this behind the scenes documentary which offers some fascinating and intriguing glimpses into the fun, glamour, agony, ecstasy and ultimate glory of 3 months on the road. The band is shown thriving on the pressures, psyching themselves up pre-stage and then delivering their all to a thunderous response.
The production manager, tour manager, road crew are frequently caught fraught with last minute panics and touring nerves. Hoards of hysterical fans are seen chasing down and beating on the bands limo and with a camera placed inside the car it gives the viewer an insight into how loud and sinister that must have been. In between all of this comes the great music.
What you get on this DVD are snippets of film recordings from their 1984 US/Canadian tour woven together that contains all their classic songs. Only a handful of British groups can say that they achieved the same kind of epic success - The Beatles, The Stones, The Sex Pistols, and Duran Duran.
Absolutely entertaining DVD with hot songs like Is There Something I should Know, Rio, the Wild Boys, Girls On Film, New Religion, Save A Prayer, Hungry Like The Wolf among many others.
Duran Duran who consists of Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor, Simon Le Bon, and Andy Taylor, are at the absolute height of their career in this DVD. Screeching girls, hosts of fans and reporters, sold out halls and in the middle of it the 5 living men of Duran Duran.
‘Sing Blue Silver’ captures the excitement and hysteria that was, and still is, the live Duran Duran experience. It’s entertaining and if you love Duran Duran, this is for you.
