Now, 15 years after the fallout, Noel and Liam Gallagher have done the unthinkable: they’re reuniting.
The news has die - hard fans eagerly waiting for the moment the brothers are on stage. The internet is buzzing with stories on ticket prices and other things on the band. But before we get swept up in the mania, let’s take a walk down memory lane and revisit the band’s documentary that many would’ve never seen or heard.
This is one of the most entertaining behind the scenes documentaries I've ever seen. Even though Oasis as band are no longer together, Oasis will always be one of the greatest band that played on the music circuit. This DVD proves why. It's filled with fantastic music plus a lot of unseen backstage moments.
‘Lord Don't Slow Me Down’ is a Rockumentary film, looking back on British rockband Oasis’ 'Don't Believe the Truth' world tour which took place from May 2005 to March 2006. The film is directed by Baillie Walsh who actually followed one of the world's biggest bands on a year-long world tour, thus gaining unique access to that band, seen them squabble on the ups and downs, to the moments of greatness and the fan frenzy. Walsh was with the band as they travelled across 26 countries on their biggest world tour to date playing to a total of over 2 million people. The answer is in the film ‘Lord Don't Slow Me Down’.
Walsh who has previously worked with Massive Attack (he made 'Safe From Harm'), Spiritualized, New Order and Kylie's ‘Slow’, and a film with Daniel Craig, this DVD set is a compendium of Oasis entertainment par excellence. With two audio formats in stereo and surround sound Bonus Audio Commentary Noel and Liam Gallagher, Andy Bell and Gem Archer guide you through the film with their recollections of the tour. Noel Gallagher’s Q&A session with fans Outtakes from the film is interesting.
So on this 100 minute DVD you can follow the band throughout their tour in Europe and The U.S and finally ending up in Japan. The film shows many great insights to the inner workings of Oasis, long gone are those days where Liam and Noel would succumb to their anger by throwing chairs at each other, but there is one scene which shows them arguing in a restaurant.
Around 98% of the movie is shot in black and white and has a slight amateur feel that only makes this DVD feel fresh and nature compared to being over produced. The DVD unfolds telling it as it is, without feeling like they put on an act in front of the camera. It is very natural. Of course you also have the songs including Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, Wonderwall, Mucky Fingers and My Generation, among many others.
If you aren't an Oasis fan, this is still worth your time, but if you're a fan of the boys, it's an absolute must. The DVD pack comes with a book that has details of the film, the tour and snapshots of the tour in black and white.
