Adele - Live at The Royal Albert Hall – 1 DVD + 1 Audio CD

Recorded in her London hometown before throat problems sidelined her indefinitely, this CD/DVD set offers a nice snapshot of an unguarded Adele just as fame is setting in for her.

The audio disc is a recreation of the live show, so we’d recommend you listen to the CD before playing the DVD just to bask in the lonesome sensuality of the voice that's captivated the world which is a wonder. In the audio CD you get a version of the concert that cuts out just about all the chatter and focuses on the purely musical aspects of Adele, The songs come from her three albums ‘19’ (2008) and ‘21’(2011). Her albums ‘25’ (2015) and ‘30’ (2021) are obviously not in this setlist, but this has the cream of her best work that will leave you spellbound.

This concert video features vocalist Adele's groundbreaking performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 22nd September 2011. The extensive set list includes fan favorites Rolling in the Deep, Turning Tables, Someone Like You, Rumour Has It, and much more. The galaxy of hits and covers includes a version of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love dedicated to Amy Winehouse. It's so moving, even Adele cries. Adele does she have a great voice, but also a big stage presence. Just magical.

Days after filming this show, she cancelled the rest of her 2011 tour and had vocal chord surgery and you can tell her voice was tired and not right. It didn't sound bad on this DVD, it just wasn't the powerful voice I've come to love.

Overall, fans who love her upbeat and ballad songs, will surely enjoy this DVD. An hour and 41 mins is enough to see the greatness that she commands. Royal Albert Hall is spectacular and her performance is beautiful and lovely. At one point in the concert she mentions as she sits down in a chair that part of it is because she's being lazy and her feet hurt but part of it is because she wants the audience to feel like they are just sitting and listening to her. The camera work is also very well done and is visually appealing.

Listening to Adele on these 17 songs is surreal. This is the first full-length live record of what will likely be many capturing an exciting moment in Adele’s career.

The DVD extras, while not plentiful, include You. Me and Albert, a 10 minute vanity – free, all access footage, Adele chatty and without her makeup. The DVD also comes packaged with a booklet with black and white pictures of Adele in her vanity van and on stage.
