Think ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, and you immediately remember the most talented and funniest black comedian Hollywood has ever seen Eddie Murphy. If you’re looking for a few laughs, some crazy car chases and a merry go round of mayhem, the third in the ‘cop’ series is bound of catch your fancy. Though Murphy appeared in other major flicks like "48 Hrs.", "Another 48 Hrs.", “Trading Places”, "Coming to America", it’s the Beverly Hills Cop series which are considered his most beloved movies, and also his best works.
On this 1994 flick, the action is sooner than expected. Set in Detroit, in a massive garage, the radio blasts off the catchy Supremes' "Come See About Me" track to which the mechanics do a wild gig and sing along, until a gang enters and kills almost all the mechanics. Before fleeing, Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) and his men close in on the gang, who double up by running a counterfeit money ring. In an exchange of fire Axel’s boss Inspector Douglas Todd is killed. In Todd’s dying declaration, he names the man who killed him and tells Axel to get him.
Axel moves over to Beverly Hills and meets up with his old friend Beverly Hills detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Jon Flint (Hector Elizondo). Axel’s investigation leads him to an amusement park ‘Wonder World’. Here, Axel does a life saving rescue of two kids who are stuck on a tilt ride, besides many other amusing stunts and thrilling trips on the Wonder World rides. Axel finds his wanted man, but cannot prove his involvement in the killing. Axel is reprimanded many times, but is undaunted until he gets his boss’ killer. And above all this, he also wants to reveal the secret counterfeit money being made in the underground chambers of Wonder World.
Don’t miss the once popular ‘Axel F’ song playing in the background.
