Hum Dono by Jaidev is an immortal classic whose songs have the eternal, timeless beauty about it. Released in 1961, the songs sound so fresh and have not aged a bit. Jaidev was a talented genius who never got his due. Composing his songs with Classical and Folk influences, his songs had originality which is why he is the favourite of the music connoisseurs. Allah Tero Naam Ishwar Tero Naam is a spiritual, devotional song with divine, transcendental, meditative feelings with superb lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi having message of unity irrespective of the religion. Allah Tero is also Lataji’s favourite song. Only goddess like Lataji could have evoked such sacredness to the song. Abhi na Jaao Chhod Kar is the ultimate romantic, seductive song which brings tears to the eyes easily. Superbly sung by Asha and Mohd. Rafi it goes to show Hindi film music has such depth, such high calibre of compositional ability and singing. Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya is a touching song which talks about taking the highs and lows of life in one's stride.
I request those who listen only to western music to listen to such albums and then you will discover Bollywood music is such a treasure that we have. Today's pop music with all the glamour and shallow content pales in comparison to the classic, vintage bollywood songs.
